11/11/2019 – Advocacy Update!

Ripple will be attending a round table meeting tomorrow in New Britain. The discussion will be on methods and ideas on how to reduce recidivism. Jeffrey will be offering a presentation on this topic as well as thoughts on bail reform, feeling that the best way to prevent someone from reentering prison is not to send them in the first place. We have learned that on occasion up to 25 percent of Connecticut’s inmate population where people awaiting trial and could not afford bond.

Confinement, isolation, and incarceration are known traumas that can lead to mental illness. Those living with mental illness already have a hard time dealing with life in a prison environment, and this is especially true for those who are jailed before ever being found guilty of a crime. Jeffrey will also be attending a bail reform panel in Stamford on December 2.
