A lot has happened since our last update!
Ripple now has a more professional travel table for our informational displays at events. This might not sound like much, but for us its huge considering we are not funded. Our new heavy duty 6 foot folding table can hold up to 200 pounds which is much more durable than our old one, it also has a larger surface area. We have also acquired a purple table skirt, custom made RockingRecovery.org banner, and a compact folding hand truck to easily transport the table and everything that needs to go on it. Pictures to come soon!
On February 5th 2020 the Connecticut legislative session jumped into full swing. Though it will not be on the agenda this year, we have not given up on revisiting a bill that would require insurance companies to cover the services of Peer Recovery Coaches and Recovery Support Specialists. Ripple along with several other groups will have a seat at the table working with our local leaders in creating the language on a bill to be introduced in 2021.
Today, February 21st, Jeffrey Santo of Ripple will be testifying at the Legislative Office Building in Hartford on how past budget cuts have affected service recipients that depend on programs provided by the Department of Mental Health and Addiction Services. A copy of Jeff’s testimony will be stored in the media section of this website: http://rockingrecovery.org/ripple-in-the-news/
The testimony will be available here no later than February 25th 2020.
